Through the collaboration of the Catholic Women Fellowship (CWF), Mottukal operates a vocational training centre in the heart of Chennai’s urban slums, focusing on adolescent girls who have dropped out of formal schooling. These girls, often overlooked by the formal system, are empowered with market-relevant skills such as tailoring and computer literacy.
The centre provides a safe and supportive environment where participants are encouraged to dream beyond their immediate circumstances, build confidence, and acquire the tools for economic independence and social mobility. By fostering both skills and self-worth, Mottukal helps young women not only earn a livelihood but also reclaim their dignity and take charge of their future.
Upon completion of the training, students are supported with job interviews and placement opportunities, ensuring a pathway to sustainable employment. They are also engaged with short-term income generative activities.
